Frequently Asked Questions:
These are some common questions people ask.
If something isn’t listed, you’re always welcome to reach out — I’m happy to help.
How much ash is needed for one bead?
Only a very small amount is needed — about a teaspoon per bead.
Any remaining ashes are carefully returned with your finished piece.
How do I get my beloved pet’s ashes to you?
If you're local, we can arrange a simple drop-off at my studio in Arvada.
If you're out of state, you would mail a small amount. Once your order is placed, you’ll receive easy instructions for preparing and sending the ashes safely.
How do I safely ship my pet’s ashes?
Only a small teaspoon-sized amount is needed to create your bead — you never need to send all of your pet’s ashes.
I recommend using a tracked shipping method for peace of mind. Many pet parents choose USPS Priority Mail, but you’re welcome to use whichever carrier you prefer.
Once your package arrives, I will personally notify you so you know it has been received safely.
If you have any concerns at all before shipping, please don’t hesitate to reach out. I’m always happy to walk you through the process.
If I’m not comfortable opening the urn, what should I do?
I completely understand — it’s a deeply personal process. If you’re not comfortable opening the urn yourself, I recommend asking a trusted friend, family member, or your local veterinarian or cremation provider to assist you. I can provide clear, respectful instructions to guide whoever is helping you.
How are my pet’s ashes used in the glass bead?
A small portion of ashes becomes part of the glass as I create the bead, making each piece one-of-a-kind.
Can ashes from more than one pet be included in one bead?
Yes, if you would like to honor more than one pet in a single bead, that is possible.
Can you create a bead for pets other than dogs or cats?
Yes. I can create a memorial bead using ashes from any beloved pet. Whether your companion was a horse, bird, rabbit, reptile, or another animal, the process remains the same.
Can you create memorial beads using human ashes?
Yes, I can. While Forever Pet Beads was founded to honor beloved pets, I am also honored to create handcrafted glass memorial beads using human ashes. Each keepsake is crafted with the same care, respect, and artistry, helping preserve the memory of loved ones in timeless glass art.
How long does it take to receive my memorial bead?
Most pieces are completed within about 4–6 weeks after I receive the ashes.
Many are finished sooner, but I never rush the process — each one is made individually with care.
Can I use my pet’s fur instead of ashes?
Because fur is organic, it disintegrates in the flame during the glassmaking process and does not remain visible in the finished bead the way ashes do. For that reason, I do not create fur-only beads.
If you are looking to preserve visible fur within a piece, you would likely need an artist who works with resin rather than glass.
Can I order a memorial bead as a gift for someone else?
Yes, many people choose to give one as a gift. I’ll work directly with you to make sure everything is handled gently and appropriately.
